Hello Fall,
Summer, Where did you go?!?
Just a quick update as to what has been happening around Isaac Acres.
We have been busy, busy, with puppies, honey, bees, an abundant harvest from the garden, fruit trees and everyday life and chores.
Our honey extraction method is different than most large-scale operations and most definitely different than any honey you will find at the supermarket.
This year with the recent decline in honey bees and extremely hard winters we are taking added precautions and leaving as much honey as we can to try to maintain the success of our hives for the next season. Much like humans, bees can find our winters long, cold and dark. We are just bumping them up with as much liquid gold as we can!
At this moment we only have time for limited extraction. So it’s an easy decision.
The main goal and most exciting part of beekeeping for Mark is making the splits and trying to hatch his successful queens. It’s a kind of fine art and balance.
Honey is a delicious side bonus. Both the Honey and bees work together to keep him on his toes and our family very busy.
In a later blog, I will explain our extraction process. Which is completely by hand!! Our method is old fashion and we like it that way. Lots of work and clean-up, but the result I think is an authentic taste. I say “the old is new again”. Much work and love go into every bottle.
