Summer, Where did you go?!?
Just a quick update as to what has been happening around Isaac Acres.
We have been busy, busy, with puppies, honey, bees, an abundant harvest from the garden, fruit trees and everyday life and chores.
Our honey extraction method is different than most large-scale operations and most definitely different than any honey you will find at the supermarket.
This year with the recent decline in honey bees and extremely hard winters we are taking added precautions and leaving as much honey as we can to try to maintain the success of our hives for the next season. Much like humans, bees can find our winters long, cold and dark. We are just bumping them up with as much liquid gold as we can!
At this moment we only have time for limited extraction. So it’s an easy decision.
The main goal and most exciting part of beekeeping for Mark is making the splits and trying to hatch his successful queens. It’s a kind of fine art and balance.
Honey is a delicious side bonus. Both the Honey and bees work together to keep him on his toes and our family very busy.
In a later blog, I will explain our extraction process. Which is completely by hand!! Our method is old fashion and we like it that way. Lots of work and clean-up, but the result I think is an authentic taste. I say “the old is new again”. Much work and love go into every bottle.
When I say old becoming new again look back to times long past to the way a quilt was made. The old peddle singer sowing machine making some miles. Most likely the women running the singer peddle burned a ton of calories and must have had great leg muscles Lol lol
(Making quilts and honey are both hard work. For everyone including the bees. I wonder if that is why the ladies called the work of getting together helping to sow the quilts quilting bees?!?! )
No custom computerized sewing machine and finished in a few hours back then. Much work and fine detail by hand made every quilt a authentic piece of art.
I can tell you lots of hard work and long hours went into extracting this year. At the same time, lots of fun and great memories have been made. The girls love extraction time and go on a cooking mission with freshly extracted honey cakes, baking and honey teas for days. They do have a few people who enjoy to drop off a honey surprise in the mailbox has a fun treat for all! It’s a family affair I guess.
At this moment with the decision based on our time and the best interest of the bees, we will be delaying our online web store and focusing on the word of mouth clients, friends, and family.
Our honey is completely organic, strained once and has a sweet distinct flavour. We are looking forward to expand our distribution to serve you soon!
I should note on a future blog we will be updating you on the new upcoming planned breeding as well introduce you to Lola the Great of Isaac Acres. We kept Lola from the July 9 litter. She will be an exceptional addition to the plans we have moving forward with our kennel and of course an “amazingly great” family member. So excited to watch her grow and learn new things. Much like a toddler, she is into everything already.
Too much to catch up on now and not enough time or energy to be truthful.
During the winter months we hope to offer you some really exciting information and the big, big plans for Isaac Acres
Stay tuned!!!!!
I think I did mention somewhere on this website that summer is a busy time and I apologize for not At least partially updating you all sooner.
Thank you and have a magical time watching the seasons change with all the vibrant colours and nice weather left (fingers crossed) to enjoy!
